The Relief Chart: The Abu Dhabi relief chart was created using Admiralty Nautical chart 3177 “Outer Approaches to Abu Dhabi”. In brief the chart shows the various harbours and Islands. It is a very shallow area , one of the unique features is the dredged channel that leads into the main port Mina Zayid. This is a particularly difficult chart because of the numerous islands.
A recent application for my work using a similar piece was as a gift to the port and city of Abu Dhabi from the Volvo Ocean Race organisation.
Framing & Size: As a colour chart, it is framed in a cream surround mount on a aqua blue background. The frame can be obiche, limed white, oak or Walnut . The estimated frame size is 500*600MM . Surround lighting is an option and very depends on application and size.
Surround lighting is recommended once the frame size is over 600*500MM
General Location : The city of Abu Dhabi is located on the northeastern part of the Persian Gulf in the Arabian Peninsula. It is on an island less than 250 metres from the mainland and is joined to the mainland by the Maqta and Mussafah Bridges.
