This is a very attractive chart, you can see Árainn Mhór (English name: Arranmore), an island off the west coast of County Donegal on the left and Cruit island on the top and Burtonport in the centre of the chart.

Arranmore is the largest inhabited island of County Donegal, the island is part of the Gaeltacht, with most of the inhabitants speaking Ulster Irish. The island is a captivating beautiful place where way marked trails lead you from sandy beaches to rocky cliffs, providing spectacular views of the glittering sea, the cliffs, rock arches and the majestic mainland mountains; from Glen Head to Tory Island.

Burtonport is a small fishing village on the coast of Donegal. It is from here that one can take the ferry to the nearby island of Arranmore with sailings daily. The name is, like many places in Donegal taken from a landowner in earlier times in this case Burton Conyngham who built houses on nearby Rutland Island and accessed the island from Burtonport and had a small pier built for himself there which was referred to as “Burton’s port”.

The chart also includes Inishinny, Rutland Island, Inishkeeragh, Inishfree upper, Inishcoo,Eighter,Lahan Edernishfree, Inishal and Termon.
