This chart has a subtle minimalist look. Every coastline around the world is unique, some indented, some complex and some long and quite straight. All are interesting in their own right and all are suitable for our unique 3d application to showcase the natural beauty of the land and sea meeting. On studying the chart, there is a decision to be made as to the balance of the land and sea within the frame. In this case the land mass occupies only one third of the space within the frame. This draws the eye to the off-shore Arklow Bank.
Arklow Bank is a long narrow sandbank 27km long and is situated 10km off the coast of Co. Wicklow. The bank has been developed as a windfarm generating electrical power for the Wicklow area. It is Ireland’s first off-shore windfarm. On the land side, notable location on the chart are Brittas Bay, Arklow town and Courtown.
