This classic black and white chart from the Admiralty archives features the West Cork villages of Glandore, Union Hall and Castletownsend – all located near the larger town of Skibbereen.

Glandore is situated an hour west of Cork City. It is a small, popular harbour village. The village is located on the east-side of the harbour. Sailing is an important attraction with an annual regatta being held in August. The two small islands named Adam and Eve can be seen on the chart at the mouth of the harbour. The sailing directions in the harbour are to “avoid Adam and hug Eve”. Castletownsend lies about 8km from Skibbereen. The village was developed around a small 17th century castle. It is situated on the edge of Castlehaven Harbour.

This chart features surround lighting which gives a golden hue to the background. It has a grey mount and a black frame.
