Corfu lies in the Ionian Sea and is one of the Ionian Islands. The northern part of the island is adjacent to the coast of Albania at a distance of only about 2km at its closest point. The remaining southern island lies off the north-west coast of Greece. The island measures approx. 65 km from north to south and its shape is somewhat similar (albeit on a smaller scale) to its neighbour Italy to the west. The main city on the island is also named Corfu and it is situated roughly halfway down the east coast. Places of note on the chart are Kavos, Lake Korission, Liapades Bay, Butrinto Lake and Palacrum.
A lovely classic black and white chart was chosen for this work. The southernmost tip of the island edges off-chart and is counter balanced by the compass rose extending over the left-hand edge. Surround lighting creates very atmospheric appeal to this lovely piece. The black frame and mount are in keeping with the chart’s own colouring.
