The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after the Volga Delta. The greater part of the Danube Delta lies in Romania, while its northern part, on the left bank of the Chilia arm, is situated in Ukraine. The Razim–Sinoe lagoon complex is geologically and ecologically related to the delta and the combined territory is listed as a World Heritage Site.
The largest lakes are lakes Dranov, Roșu and Gorgova. The Danube branches into three main distributaries into the delta, Chilia, Sulina, and Saint George. The last two branches form the Tulcea channel, which continues as a single body for several kilometers after the separation from the Chilia.
The frame for this piece is obeche and the mount is cream on a marine blue background.
