This Gold Coast chart of Douro River blends the traditional with the new. It is one of our new range of circular gold coast charts and is set within a frame. The choice of a frame is an optional extra as the Gold Coast charts look equally well unframed. The gold leaf is painstakingly applied to an aluminium composite, and then the nautical chart is printed as a “negative” as in traditional lithography. The effect is stunning. The land is displayed as gold with the text in navy ink . The sea is navy with the chart depth details in 24 carat gold leaf. The detail is exquisite.

The Douro River (known as Duero in Spanish, Durius in Latin) is the largest river of the Iberian Peninsula by discharge. It originates near Duruelo de la Sierra in the Spanish province of Soria, then flows generally west through the northern part of the Meseta Central in Castile and León, eventually crossing into Porto, northern Portugal.
