Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin is a popular location and a much-requested area for 3d chart commissions. This commission focusses specifically on the harbour with its east and west piers and the marina.

Dun Laoghaire has a proud maritime tradition. The harbour is the town’s focal point with the east and west piers being iconic features in Dublin Bay and enjoyed by generations. There is a long-held tradition in Dublin to walk the promenade in Dun Laoghaire, and then down the pier. Stopping off at Teddy’s for a ninety-nine ice-cream is a ritual to be savoured. Dun Laoghaire has one of the largest harbours in the country and is home to four yacht clubs: the Royal Irish Yacht Club, the Royal St. George, the National Yacht Club and the Motor Yacht Club as well as a couple of sailing clubs.

Bridges and piers are difficult structures to execute in 3D. Extreme care and a steady hand is required. Thankfully the finished result was a very attractive 3D chart.

The chart has a fresh nautical look. It is set on a marine blue background and is finished with a cotton white mount and an obeche frame.
