The coastal area around Fidalgo Island is interesting and varied, as can be seen in this work. Fidalgo Island occupies the north-westernmost corner of the United States, in the state of Washington. The island is named after the Spanish explorer and cartographer Salvador Fidalgo. Its biggest city is Anacortes in the north-east. It is connected by ferry with Sidney, British Colombia and several ports in the San Juan Islands.
The colour combination of this chart is strong and energetic. The land areas are shown in an ochre shade while the bays are resplendent in pacific blue, the most notable of which is Similk Bay. This is highlighted furthermore by the relief-work of the 3D layering and the addition of surround lighting which throws light and shadow across the chart. The limed white frame and cotton white mount allow the chart colours to have maximum impact.
The area around Lopez Island is particularly indented and intricate to cut. Further north can be seen Center Island and Decatur Island. Burrows Island and Allan Island lie close to one another in Burrows Bay.
