This lovely chart features Loch Tarbert in Jura, Scotland. Loch Tarbert is a sea loch on the west coast of Jura. As the name Tarbert suggests, it comes close to cutting the island in half.
Jura is located northeast of Islay and fourth largest island of the Inner Hebrides, Argyll and Bute council area, historic county of Argyllshire, Scotland. It is 43 km long, 3–13 km wide, and almost bisected by Loch Tarbert.
Between Jura’s northern tip and the island of Scarba lies the Gulf of Corryvreckan, where a whirlpool makes passage dangerous at certain states of the tide. The southern part of the island, from Loch Tarbert southwards, is designated a national scenic area (NSA).
