Flensburger Förde is a long, fjord‑like inlet forming part of the German–Danish border on the western Baltic Sea. Its coastline alternates between gently sloping beaches, steep morainic cliffs, and rolling farmland shaped by the last Ice Age. Numerous bays, coves, and narrow headlands create a deeply indented shoreline. Within the fjord lie small islands such as Okseøerne, while the larger island of Als helps define its outer opening.
To the east, the Little Belt links the Baltic Sea to the Kattegat through a narrow, winding strait between Jutland and Funen. Its coastline alternates between steep glacial bluffs, deep channels, and calm, fjord‑like inlets. Islands including Aarø, Bågø, and Fænø add to the region’s varied maritime character. Together, these waters form a richly textured northern Baltic landscape shaped by ice, tides, and centuries of coastal change.
