Cabo de Sao Vicente to Faro

This chart features the westernmost section, from Cabo de São Vicente (the Cape of Saint Vincent), It is the southwesternmost point of Portugal and of mainland Europe, to the city of Portmao, and then extends as far as the city of Faro.

The Cape of Saint Vincentis approximately 6 km from the village of Sagres, the cape is a landmark for a ship traveling to or from the Mediterranean. The cliffs rise nearly vertically from the Atlantic to a height of 75 meters.

Potimao is a port city and historically was a fishing and shipbuilding centre. It is now a thriving tourist location. Moving west from Portimao, you can see Alvor and the historic city of Lagos.

Faro, city and concelho (municipality), the southernmost city of Portugal. It lies on the Atlantic Ocean coast near Cape Santa Maria. It is the biggest city and second most populous municipality in the Algarve (after Loulé) and one of the biggest in Southern Portugal.
